ANALYSIS

  1. When comparing Basic Stats the Tognath Marksman is better for the Rebel Faction with the decrease in Unit Capacity (-1) when compared with the Rebel Sharpshooter.
  2. When comparing Hiring / Training Times it is clear that the Rebel Sharpshooter has the quickest time per Level, followed by the Empire Sniper Trooper and then the Tognath Marksman.
  3. When comparing Hiring / Training Times it was noted that the Empire Sniper Trooper had less Training Times for Levels 8 to 10 than for Level 5 to 7.
  4. When comparing Base Damage it is clear that the Tognath Marksman and the Empire Sniper Trooper have the same stats.
  5. When comparing Base Damage the Tognath Marksman is better for both Factions due to higher Damage but is especially better for the Rebel Faction which would enjoy having the same stats as the Empire Sniper Trooper.
  6. When comparing Base Damage Multipliers it is clear that the Tognath Marksman and the Empire Sniper Trooper have the same stats.
  7. When comparing Base Damage Multipliers the Tognath Marksman is better for the Rebel Faction despite the decrease in damage done to Vehicle Units (which is offset by the higher Base Damage) and would enjoy having the same stats as the Empire Sniper Trooper.
  8. When comparing Sniper Shot Damage Multipliers(Tognath Only) with Base Damage Multipliers it is clear that every Unit Type receives less damage except the Droideka (DekA / DekO).

BOTTOM LINE

The Tognath Marksman is better for both Factions but it is the Rebel Faction which receives the most benefit from using this Unit.

The only downside is the hiring / training times as follows:

  1. The significant hiring / training times (2 to 8 times more) for the Tognath Marksman as compared with the similar units, and;
  2. With the Tognath Marksman being a Mercenary Unit, Players are restricted to using only one Production Structure - the Cantina - and therefore Loadout Cook Times are longer (when multiple Mercenary Units are being Hired / Trained).

Glad I wasted time getting top 2% on all three conflicts for a minimal troop benefit.

In a way, the Tognath Marksman competes with other cantina units... i.e. do I really want to use my cantina for it when I can get almost the same thing from the barracks? Or stick with pigs and fire ladies from the cantina? Likely the latter.

The fact that the Tognath can only come from the Cantina and also has a longer base cook time are factors that should be prominently considered in the lead post.

Unless you are one that is crystalling your troop loads for speed, the cantina bottleneck is effectively a dealbreaker. It is for me.

I dont have and dont see me grinding for the tognath...those golden days are gone forever...i like to have fun while o play now...

HOWEVER...the cooktimes will NOT be a big factor for SC and SQUAD WARS...
I expect Tognath to become standard weapon on these as soon as players get them. A couple fanatics in my squad already have them...expect to be requesting some for SC soon...squadmates (and all others) will likely stock them when under protection :)

Of course...for attack series they wont be used by "normal" players...perhaps for the "first catch of the day"...

pdqsport - There was a comment about such in the Bottom Line (found at the bottom of the Main Thread Post) and now appears as #2.

I went back and revised the Main Thread Post and added Hiring / Training Time Comparison.

Noted something interesting about the Empire Sniper Trooper Training Times for Level 8+

I still feel that for a SC Defensive Unit the TOG is better for both Factions. As a PvP Offensive Unit, the TOG doesn't do that well and its primary mission of "Destroy DekA / DekO" can be better handled by other units.

Hope this info helps someone...

The problem with the Tog as an SC unit, as pointed out by another forum member, is that the typical deployment of a Deka/Deko is *behind* the other attacking units.

This means that the Tog will go on a suicide run a la snipers/sharps/Leia in terms of ignoring all the units in front of it to get to the deka/deko.
