Squad Join Requests - Discussion Thread

This Is Not A Squad Recruitment Thread

MAIN TOPIC: Discussion of individual Squads "Policy" or "Philosophy" on both the "acceptance" and "rejection" of individual Squad Join Requests.

All Leaders and Officers of every Squad has dealt with these - Squad Join Requests.

Now if your Squad is FULL/MAXED OUT you don't see any (The [ Join ] or [ Apply ] Button is ghosted) preventing Players from submitting Join Requests.

However, if your Squad has less than 30 Members eventually you will see Players asking to join your Squad which eventually leads the Squad Leader and/or a Squad Officer to answer the following question:

How Does Your Squad Handle Squad Join Requests (If You Have Room)?

⇨ Vote in the POLL (Anonymous) to indicate your Squads Join Request Policy / Philosophy.
You can CHANGE your Vote anytime.

With Squads continually looking for quality Players, mostly to successfully compete in Squad Wars, combined with Players looking to join high ranking Squads, the main question about Squad Join Requests becomes a valid Topic.

It will be interesting to see comments / discussion on why Squads choose one Squad Join Request "Policy" or "Philosophy" over another.

We use it as "closed" option. When for example someone booted 3 times in a row keeps joining. We switch to "Requests" for a while.

We have had it on for some time but it sux. It is totally useless. The only way to check applying player is his name. You cant see his base. You cant talk to him. You can do literally nothing to know him better.

The difference between booting unwanted and joining request is:
* you have to do one more click
* he joined other squad most probably so Accepting wont work
* with open to all you can check his base before you boot him. With joining requests you cant.
* with open to all you can talk to him before you boot him. With joining requests you cant.

Joining requests mode us very good example of SWC devs stupidity. Just like being unable to talk with ppl with different language settings despite they can join same squad. Another SWC bullshit.

Our squad is set to Request Only, and the leader will sporadically set to open. When set to Request Only, we will accept any requests where the user has asked to join in our main squad language and will reject any not in our main squad language.

Once allowed in, we will attempt to talk to them to see if they meet our squad requirements, if not we remove them

Our rule is auto reject the generic request. If you can't be bothered to say something different, see ya. Others depend on what they put in. I liked the one that said every squad I join boots me. Not a good resume item.

One of the things I find annoying is when you see someone apply to be in your Squad, you decide to give them a chance, only to be told when you click on [Accept] to "Leave Your Squad" which is really telling you that the Player whom applied to your Squad decided to apply to another Squad whom "accepted them" already.

Your only recourse is to click on [Decline] and move on.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

ADDITIONAL QUESTION: How do you handle Squad Applications from Players using a In-Game Name of a current Squad Member?

While Squad Names are UNIQUE it is well known that In-Game Names are NOT UNIQUE.

It is possible to have hundreds if not thousands of Luke Skywalkers. So in reference to the above question how would you handle a request to join your Squad by "Luke Skywalker" when you already have a Squad Member named "Luke Skywalker" (or in case of the Empire Faction: a "Darth Vader" when you have a "Darth Vader")

We had an Obi-Wan Kenobi join our squad for a while. My in-game name is Obi Wan Kenobi (hyphenated names weren't allowed when I joined). He was with us for about a week, and decided to move on of his own volition. It was confusing for all, even though there was a hyphen to differentiate us.
HQ 10 - 15K medals - Kenobi's Command - L 50 Squad - Max perks - 3 Squad Wars a week

Stop by for Wars, perks and rep points. We're maxed out.

This is reason why we are not using this option, 90% of applications return this error.

Similar here.

However, slightly off topic, it would really be useful if one could set more than medals as a criteria, e.g., the Squad's language. I've yet to have been able to save one person from being booted by trying to get non-English people to change to English.
