Commanders,

The upcoming SWC update brings the release of Equipment Data Fragments, Equipment, and the Armory! In preparation, we wanted to go over each of the major release elements:

What are Equipment Data Fragments?

Data Fragments are obtained from Supply Crates and are used to unlock and upgrade Equipment at the Armory.
Players must collection a certain amount of data fragments before they are able to unlock Equipment.

What is the Armory?

The Armory is new building that unlocks at HQ6 and allows players to activate unlocked Equipment.
Players can upgrade their armory to increase the number of concurrently active pieces of Equipment.

What is Equipment?

  • Equipment provides the player a bonus to the stats of the affected unit/structure along with a new “skin” or visual change.
  • Equipment may be location/planet-dependent (e.g.: Snowtrooper Equipment only active during a battle on Hoth)
  • Equipment is Unlocked once a Player gathers the appropriate number and type of Equipment data fragments. The unlock is permanent but the Equipment must be activated at the Armory to apply its bonus.
  • Equipment is upgraded in the Research Lab with the same unique Equipment data fragments used to unlock the Equipment.
  • During the upgrade time, players may not perform other upgrades at the Research Lab.
  • Equipment is activated in the Armory.
  • Equipment can be deactivated/activated at any time the player has access to the armory. There is no cooldown.

NOTE: Expect a new SWC Client Update soon, possibly this week in conjunction with Force Friday, this Friday.

My Comments About New Feature - Armory

This was announced at the Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016 which you can read about here.

Equipment Data Fragments

  1. They appear in Supply Crates, a system which has not been too good in prior implementations. Maybe something has changed?
  2. Players must collection a certain amount of data fragments before they are able to unlock Equipment. This sounds very similar to the Droid Parts "idea" described by Bradley Crusco in my Thread found here.
Armory Structure

  1. Unlocks at HQ Level 6 and allows players to activate unlocked Equipment.

    This means you won't see Equipment Data Fragments until you reach HQ Level 6.

  2. Players can upgrade their armory to increase the number of concurrently active pieces of Equipment.

    The Developer Blog accompanied images show graphics for Level 1 to 6. There is currently no indication that you can upgrade the Armory any higher. The new Armory may be like the Cantina and Planetary Commander, both of which had "limited Level Upgrades".
Equipment

    Yea! Unit / Structure Buffs and New Unit / Structure Skins!! :D

  2. Equipment may be location/planet-dependent.

    I like this as it will make fighting on Planets more "real".

  3. Equipment is Unlocked once a Player gathers the appropriate number and type of Equipment data fragments.

    This worrys me as I see this being tied to Planets also. We will just have to wait and see.

  4. Equipment is upgraded in the Research Lab with the same unique Equipment data fragments used to unlock the Equipment. During the upgrade time, players may not perform other upgrades at the Research Lab.

    WARNING - Long Upgrade Process Described! :cry:

  5. Equipment is activated in the Armory. Equipment can be deactivated/activated at any time the player has access to the armory. There is no cooldown.

    This is one of the best parts of this new game feature! :)
Unmentioned Possible Included Game Unit

Although NOT mentioned in the Developer Blog, the Client Update which brings us the new Armory Structure MAY ALSO bring us - Tauntauns! - as shown by this image:

I found this part interesting. Previously I'd just figured that the skins would be for units, not buildings. I wonder what buildings will have equipment for them.. I could imagine Rebel rapid fires on Hoth being turned into the turrets from ESB, for instance.

As for the data fragments coming from supply crates, I don't know what I think of that. It sounds like acquiring the equipment you actually want might rely entirely on chance. But will have to wait and see how it actually works.

Euph - Yep, you know me - trying to keep everyone informed. ;)

Your post also caught my attention about the STRUCTURE BUFFS AND NEW SKINS which can be implimented via the Armory. This is something definitely to look out for.

Hmmm... Let's see... Armory check... All Data Fragments check... Sonic Turret Structure Buff / New Skin Unlocked check...

WOW! :shock: Omnidirectional 360° Sonic Blast! :D :lol:

Not sonic, but Mortars and Rapid Fire turrets. (Health and/or Damage as it seems)

So Imps can more efficiently kill Medics. (Oh, I've got also *one* Rapid Fire Turret on my Rebel base)

Also: Health Buffs similar to Er'Kit (no idea on percentages though)

And the typical money grab by trying to entice crystal sales by adding more to the Research Lab! Good thing I have my most used units already upgraded.
